I DON’T NEED PERFECTION, JUST A GROWN-ASS MAN WITH HIS SHIT TOGETHER

All of this talking about the characteristics of a real man, things they should do or not do to make us happy, all of these guides and signs on how to find the real one or how you can change him to start treating you right…

All this time, I’ve been in pursuit of finding the right one for me. To find someone who will exhibit certain traits that will fit my definition of a real man. After a few failures, I’ve realized that there’s no point in seeking perfection because it simply doesn’t exist.

It took me a few heartbreaks, floods of tears and enormous amounts of pain to realize that no matter how high my standards were, I would still end up broken and disappointed. I’ve become sick of all of those narcissistic boys, their selfishness and sweet nothings.

I’ve realized that I don’t need perfection, just a grown-ass man with his shit together.

I don’t need a boy with a perfect body and face, flawless, with a perfect mind. All I need is a grown-ass man who will stick to his words and promises. I’m not looking for someone to take me to the moon or the stars. I’m looking for someone who will be willing to gaze at them with me on long, hot, summer nights.

And I don’t think I’m asking for much. My previous disappointments with men have actually taught me not to expect much of them and that is why I wholeheartedly and solemnly swear that I don’t and will never look for perfection.

All I need is a man who knows what he wants, who will fight for it and who knows how to appreciate what he has.

I don’t need a boy who wants one thing today and a different thing the next. I don’t need someone whose main priority is their self-centered, egotistical nature. I need a man who knows what he wants, who will fight hard for it and who will know how to appreciate what he has.

I don’t need someone who will play mind games with me or make me feel less worthy. I need a man who will take care of my heart and soul, just like I will take care of his. All I want is mutual reciprocity. All I want is the mutual reciprocity of giving and receiving. Nothing else.

I need a man who will not take me for granted, who will keep fighting for me even after he wins me.

I need a man who will not give up at the first obstacle. Love is not a game, as boys would think. You don’t go out of your way to fight hard to win someone only to take them for granted afterward. You fight hard to win their love and you keep fighting to maintain it. And that’s the kind of man I’m looking for.

I need a man who will understand the seriousness of other people’s feelings and this complex thing called love. I don’t need someone who will fight for me only to fulfill his egotistical purposes. I need honesty, respect, and selflessness. I need to know that I’m not just another brick in the wall that will be replaced with another one when it becomes worn.

I don’t need to be treated like a queen. I just need a man who will be there for me no matter what.

I don’t expect to be showered with honey, milk and gold. I don’t expect any of the luxuries that we’re bombarded with today. I don’t need them because I believe in modesty and the beauty of little things. I don’t need someone who will buy me three hundred roses to persuade me of his love.

I need a man who will say it like he really means it. And who will prove his love to me by simply being there for me no matter what. I don’t need any of those expensive gifts from shops. All I need is a grown-ass man who is devoted to the core because that’s the biggest gift you could give to someone you really love.
