Relationship Advice: When The Butterflies Leave Your Stomach, This Is What Remains In A Relationship

When the butterflies in your stomach disappear, this is what remains in a relationship. The reality is not so exciting and passionate… ❤ OneWhen the butterflies leave your stomach, this is what remains in a relationship girl’s post about what happens in a relationship after the butterflies in your stomach disappear has collected thousands of likes and reposts. The text was written three years ago and has now blown up the Internet again:  “I’ve been in a relationship for 5 years now.

And I see a lot of posts about how people think that in a relationship you should always feel butterflies in your stomach, how your heart should beat faster when you see this person, how you should cuddle every night, intertwine your legs, and be happy to sleep in the same bed every night.

But in reality, things are not like that, at least not for me.

You stop feeling butterflies in your stomach when you start living together.  Your heart no longer beats faster when you see him, but instead, there is calm.

When you’re with him, you feel calm and safe. When you hold him, you feel your pulse slow down and the sound of his breathing lulls you to sleep.

No more emotional ups and downs. You feel at home.  You don’t sleep cuddled up every night with your legs tangled. You sleep comfortably, side by side, sometimes facing away from each other. But every night you climb into bed to find him there.

You snuggle into his arm or stroke his hair as he falls asleep. There are nights when my boyfriend holds me close in his sleep, like a child holding his teddy bear.

In the early hours just before dawn, when the world is so blue and you can see it with your eyes closed, you will cuddle up to his chest and breathe in his scent before you fall asleep for a little while longer.

Kisses are no longer always romantic and passionate. But there is much more of them now.

Cold kisses when you eat ice cream in the summer. Sticky kisses when you eat pancakes for breakfast. There are “I’m leaving now” or “One more kiss before you go” kisses. There are sleepy morning kisses before work when you don’t notice the alarm clock but are woken up by the touch of his lips.

There are kisses before bed, and kisses for everything he does. For being so kind to animals. For being there for me and not someone else.

There are quick kisses in the store, when there are a lot of people around and it’s very loud when there is too little personal space and you press yourself even closer to each other.

You don’t always want to write each other love letters like you used to because now it’s a given. Now you joke more about things that only you understand. You exchange glances, understanding each other without words, when there are those around you who shouldn’t understand anything.

Relationships are not always like a fairy tale. It is a calm rhythm of love and care. It is a fire not in the soul, but in the heart, which makes you warm and cozy so that you calmly fall asleep next to each other.  And I love it.”
