We have already shown you which signs can indicate that your partner is cheating. Today we want to turn the tables and tell you which characteristics and behaviors indicate that you have found a loyal soul. Of course, we cannot give you 100% certainty, but if several of the following eight points apply to your boyfriend, the probability of an affair is at least low.
Ideally, you shouldn’t be constantly worrying about whether your partner is faithful or not. Mutual trust should be the foundation of a long-term relationship. But if you’ve only recently gotten involved with someone, these signs might calm you down and help you find exactly that basis of trust with your loved one.
#1: He has a similar income to you
A study by the American Sociological Review has shown that partners are more likely to remain faithful if they earn a similar amount. Statistically speaking, men who earn significantly more than their partners are more likely to cheat, and those who earn significantly less are even more likely to cheat than partners with the same income. So if your relationship is relatively balanced financially, you are on the safe side.
#2: He has loyal friends
Psychologist M. Gary Newman has dedicated an entire book to the topic of cheating and tries to find out why men become unfaithful. He finds that men who have loyal and trustworthy friends who do not cheat themselves are much less likely to jump into other people’s beds.
#3: He feels valued
Contrary to the common assumption that men cheat mainly when they are sexually unsatisfied in the relationship, Newman sees the problem in a completely different area. It is much more important that your partner feels loved and valued and does not seek this emotional confirmation from other women. However, if your partner is unfaithful to you despite your affection, you should not interpret it as your failure. Whether or not your partner feels valued depends not only on you but also on his self-esteem.
#4: He is extroverted
Even though you might assume that extroverts are more likely to cheat because they meet new women quickly, it is usually the introverts who are unfaithful. Extroverts are said to be less likely to blindly accept the advances of new acquaintances. So just because your boyfriend is constantly meeting new people and is sociable, this is no sign that he could be unfaithful to you.
#5: He seems trustworthy
At this point, you just have to trust your gut feeling. If you have never had any concerns about trusting your partner in other matters, this is already a good sign. For example, if he has never revealed a secret about you or you can rely on him to pay you back the money he has lent you without asking, this is a sign of a trustworthy character. Even if you tell each other everything and you don’t have the feeling that he is keeping secrets from you, this is a sign of his trustworthiness. In general, a functioning relationship should always feel like a deep, trusting friendship in addition to the romantic and passionate part.
#6: He is a metalhead
OK, you shouldn’t take this point too seriously. A survey of music fans conducted by the British newspaper The Mirror has shown that metal and indie listeners are statistically the most loyal partners. However, whether this is just a coincidence or whether there is a connection between musical preferences and loyalty remains to be proven.
#7: He is not an only child
You’ve probably heard of online portals where people are specifically looking for affairs. Statistics on the “Seeking Arrangements” website show that most users are only children. So if your boyfriend comes from a large family, you’re in a better position.
#8: He has erection problems
It somehow sounds plausible: If he often has problems getting an erection even in familiar surroundings with you, he will be much less likely to engage in a quickie with someone else.
