According to a new study, most men were able to determine how faithful they were to their partners just by looking at photos of two unfamiliar women. It turns out that men have a sixth sense that helps them figure out if they are cheating.
The experiment involved more than 100 young men, students at the University of Western Australia. The author of the study, Dr. Samantha Lavers, wanted to prove that men have an evolutionaryally developed ability to assess female fidelity.
Participants were given 17 cards, each of which depicted two different women: one who had cheated on her partner at least twice, and the other an honest and faithful wife.
The guys were asked to choose between two women, the one they thought was unfaithful. The experiment was conducted twice with different groups of men.

The researchers found that the guys’ answers were accurate almost 60% of the time. Although the limited choice of 1 out of 2 makes the task easier, the scientists are sure that evolution has influenced men’s ability to assess a woman’s fidelity based on her appearance.
If for women, from an evolutionary point of view, it is important to simply choose the best alpha male to continue the family line, then men need a woman to be faithful to them—and not only out of love but so as not to humiliate him in front of other males.
