WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEONE, YOU PUT THEM FIRST

  When you love someone, you show it to them every day. When you love someone you’re not the most important person in your life anymore. When you love someone, your world changes. You see yourself next to that person for the rest of your life. You put them first on your list of priorities. But loving someone doesn’t mean you have to ignore everything else in your life. Loving someone doesn’t mean you stop being yourself, you top doing things you did before you met them. You never ditch your friends and use that time to hang out with the person you’re in love with.   When you love someone, you don’t give up on people and things you love. You just make room for someone new. You introduce them into your life and make them a part of it, not the whole. When you love someone, you’re not lost in thoughts unable to do anything right. It doesn’t mean that you have to put yourself last and sacrifice your dreams to make room for them. When you love someone, it means you let them into your life. You hang out with them; you care for them; you want them to be happy. When you love someone, it means you have to be more careful about what you’re doing. You have to take their feelings into consideration. You have to think it through before you do something. You have to be sure your actions won’t hurt them. You are no longer alone, and you can’t do whatever you want to. If you love them, you’ll change a bit. I don’t mean you’re going to be a different person, but you’re going to keep some things under control, so you don’t hurt their feelings unintentionally. When you love someone, every day is going to be another challenge. Every day, you’ll be responsible for someone else’s feelings. However, loving someone also means that you’ll have to leave them alone every now and then. You won’t be able to be there at their service every minute of the day. Sometimes, you won’t be able to answer your phone when they call you or you won’t be able to go with them to the movies because you promised your friend you’ll watch that movie together.   Loving someone doesn’t mean you have to put your life on hold. You have to care about their happiness, and you have to show them unconditional love. But it would be silly of them to expect you to drop everything, no matter how important, when they want to be with you . That’s not love; that’s being selfish. When you love someone, you have to show understanding. You have to be compassionate and take your person’s feelings into consideration. When you love someone, you don’t ignore them. You don’t neglect them. You include them in things you do because you care about them. You don’t stare at the TV when they are trying to talk to you. You don’t hang up on them just because you’re not in the mood to talk. You don’t hurt their feelings just because you don’t feel happy enough that day. You don’t destroy them with your negativity. You walk away until it you feel better. When you love someone you keep them close to your heart. You take such good care of them. You always go an extra mile to make them happy. You rearrange your schedule; you try so hard to make room in your life for them.   You surprise them. You buy them gifts. You take them somewhere nice they’ve never been. You want to make their every moment memorable. When you love someone, you don’t feel like they are a burden. You don’t feel like you’re wasting your energy. You feel like you’ve found the piece of you that was missing. When you love someone, you make sure they feel loved. You make sure they don’t miss anything. You make sure they are happy. Because if they start looking for what’s missing, they will find it, and it won’t be with you.
