How To Move On From A Life-Changing Love

Do you know what it’s like for your soul to cry out for someone who no longer wants to hear you? For your heart to feel homesick for a love that no longer exists where it used to? To miss someone so bad it almost feels like you could die? Do you know what that’s like? To love someone so much it’s like you don’t know how to exist in a world without them?

A love like that can be intoxicating. When you’re in it, you get this rush, almost like it’s the only thing that matters. But when it’s gone, it’s all you can think about. You go through withdrawal and hope you can get just a small fix to get you by and make you feel that rush again.

So what do you do? How do you get over something like that? How do you find the courage to move on from a love like that?

Somehow you lose your ability to love again and trust again. Just thinking about doing it again reminds you of that pain you got left with the last time. Falling in that again is what scares you the most, because once you’re in it, you’re completely and wholeheartedly in it.

Loving someone enough to let them go and actually being able to let them go is two very different things. But it’s that fear of trying and that fear of not knowing whether you can actually let go or if you will ever experience that type of love again.

So what do you do now? How do you know when it’s the right time to move on or to let go?

The answer is you don’t know, you just do it when you’re ready to, and most times without even realizing it. Time never stops moving, but it does lessen the pain. Time will help you loosen your grip and do something you thought you could never do before.

You always have that one true love that the sound of their name still sends chills down your back and the thought of them always knocks the wind out of you. Oftentimes, we don’t always experience an intense love like that, but when we do, it will either be the best thing for us or the worst thing. Either way, you learn from it. The truth is, sometimes that kind of love hurts you so deep in your soul that there is no getting over it, but you can get through it.

It’s painful, unfair, and you will have setbacks, and that’s okay. Healing isn’t meant to be pretty. Healing forces you to strip down to the lowest and darkest parts of yourself so you can build yourself back up again to be a better version of yourself you didn’t know existed.
