What does it even mean for a zodiac sign to be masculine or feminine? It‘s less to do with maleness or femaleness and more to do with the spiritual concepts of each time of energy. Masculine and feminine refers to how these signs relate to the world and deal with situations, rather than whether you, yourself, are masculine or feminine. It‘s broken up by the zodiac elements. The water and earth signs are considered female, while the fire and air signs are considered male.
The Masculine Signs
Fire signs: Aries (March 21 – April 19), Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22) and Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)
Air signs: Gemini (May 21 – June 20), Libra (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22) and Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)
Those born under masculine fire and air signs are said to be prone to taking action. They‘re shakers and doers, and are often defined by their relationships with others and how people see them. They tend to be impulsive, acting before they fully think things through, and they‘re constantly on the move.
When these signs see something they dislike in the world, they actively work toward changing it. In fact, they thrive on change, and can be adaptable in an environment that‘s constantly shifting. They‘re direct with people, and always speak their mind. However, they can also have a difficult time getting in touch with their emotions, and don‘t always understand or have the greatest empathy for others. They have a tough time seeing from perspectives other than their own.
The Feminine Signs

Those born under feminine earth and water signs are more focused on what‘s happening on the inside. They‘re inwardly reflective, with a strong inner strength and a powerful understanding of their emotions and feelings. They feel things strongly, reacting with their emotions and thinking about an issue before they can address it properly.
They tend to worry about the consequences of their actions. They tend to be patient, analyzing situations, deliberating and seeing how things pan out before they act. They find that situations often resolve themselves when they just step back and observe. They can also be careful in their interactions with others, as they‘re sensitive and care a great deal about the feelings of other people. They know that things aren‘t up to them, and are flexible in most situations. They live their lives in an orderly way, avoiding chaos wherever possible.
