After all that you have been through, it’s not a surprise that you made walls around you so thick that they are almost impossible to break. You had no other choice. You had to find a way to protect yourself from getting hurt once again.
Walls inside of you are like an invisible, unreachable fortress. They keep away those whot would hurt you and bring you heartache and pain. They protect your heart and they make you feel safe. And though the safety is nice, it also prevents those who could bring joy and happiness to your life from finding you.
That’s why you need to be with someone who will make those walls tumble down. Someone who will make you feel again. Someone who will make you love again.
You will recognize him when he comes looking for you. He will make you feel safe. He will have goodness within him that will make you trust him. He will be the one you will open up to for the first time in a long time and let him be a part of your world.
You will never regret it. Because he will show you with his actions that he is there, that he is not leaving. That he has understanding for everything you have been through. That he understands your slightly tough exterior and why you are so guarded.
He won’t force you. He will be patient. Because he will know that you are worthy and no matter how much time it takes, he will insist on giving you everything you ever needed from a man. He will give you the love you always wanted but never had. That love will make your walls tumble down all on their own before you even realize it.
He will make sense of every tear that rolled down your face. He will show you that all that pain wasn’t for nothing. That all that hardship shaped you into the woman he cares about the most. You will thank God it didn’t work out with anybody else because you now know why. You will feel like everything in your life—all the wrong men, all those messy breakups—were worth it because in him, you have everything you have been looking for and more.
He will be the one who will remind you of your worth. He will have nothing but respect for you and everything you stand for. He will be someone who will remind you how special and unique you are. He won’t try to change you. He will never look down on you or make you feel less. He will look at you as his equal. As his partner in crime. As his teammate. As somebody who he has been searching for his entire life.
Something that will make him stand out from all the rest is that he will never stop trying. He will always give as much as he can. He will know that sometimes just being there is enough. He won’t be flawless. He will make mistakes. But so will you. The important thing is that none of you will ever give up.
Building up walls gave you safety, but it also prevented you from finding the one you were always supposed to be with. So, when a good man is standing in front of that fortress, in front of those high walls you have built, let him into your life. Trust him and open your heart once again—he will be worth it.
